During my time at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City I studied Photographic Styling, This course allowed me to understand and learn the 'tricks of the trade'. One project I took part in was to create a meal which we could style and photograph.

 

However, in true food stylist style all the food was raw and we had to rely on our imagination to recreate a 'cooked' meal. We used ingredients such as coffee, gravy and oil in order to give the illusion that the lemon chicken had infact come straight from under the grill. 

 

This project allowed me to understand the rules of lighting, reflection and colours within photography and how to go about avoding these issues in the future.
